Phase 1 of the redevelopment program focuses on major renovations and upgrades within the Central Terminal complex, including modernization of passenger processing areas, expansion of circulation spaces, upgrades to building systems, and improvements to concessions and passenger amenities. The project includes demolition of outdated interior spaces, renovation of existing facilities, and construction of new infill elements to improve passenger flow and operational functionality.
The redevelopment effort forms part of Miami International Airport’s broader capital improvement program, a multi-billion-dollar initiative aimed at modernizing aging infrastructure and accommodating continued passenger growth. Improvements to the Central Terminal include expanded concourse areas, improved security processing, upgraded baggage systems, enhanced lighting and technology infrastructure, and expanded passenger amenities.
When complete, the Central Terminal redevelopment will modernize facilities originally constructed decades earlier while improving passenger circulation, operational efficiency, and the overall travel experience for millions of annual passengers traveling through Miami International Airport.
APR worked closely with the architectural and engineering design team to develop planning-level and design-stage cost estimates for renovation and new construction elements within the Central Terminal complex. The estimating team evaluated project scope associated with demolition, interior renovations, building system upgrades, passenger circulation improvements, and new infill construction within Concourses E and F.
APR’s estimating professionals analyzed design development documents and coordinated with discipline leads to evaluate cost implications associated with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system improvements.
Through the application of benchmarking from comparable airport terminal redevelopment projects and historical aviation construction cost data, APR developed structured cost models that supported design development and budgeting activities for the CTR Phase 1 program.
- Developed cost estimates supporting design development for Central Terminal redevelopment initiatives
- Evaluated cost implications associated with demolition, renovation, and new construction within an active airport terminal
- Coordinated with architectural and engineering discipline leads to evaluate design scope and cost impacts
- Applied benchmarking from comparable airport terminal redevelopment programs
- Provided cost intelligence supporting budgeting and planning for a major airport terminal modernization project
- Evaluated construction phasing considerations associated with renovation of an occupied terminal facility
